With 2,425 libraries worldwide relying on Alma™, the August 2025 Feature Release continues the tradition of delivering meaningful, community-driven innovation. Now available to all customers, this latest update introduces powerful new capabilities that refine day-to-day workflows, simplify access to information, and reinforce Alma’s role as a flexible, forward-thinking library services platform.
Leading the release is the full adoption of the new Title Search experience, now the default interface across the platform. Centered on delivering an exceptional user experience, it combines speed and clarity with the ability for library staff to act directly within search results. Enhancements such as resizable panels and smarter set management streamline both discovery and task execution, minimizing the need to navigate away from the original search context and enabling smoother, more intuitive workflows.
Support also arrives in a new form, an embedded AI Knowledge Assistant that provides context-aware help precisely when and where it’s needed. Whether clarifying a workflow step or linking to relevant documentation, the assistant helps users stay focused and productive without leaving the Alma environment.
For libraries operating in consortia, new Display Logic Rules open the door to more responsive e-resource configuration. Institutions can now combine NZ and IZ resources in a unified logic structure, making it easier to deliver coherent access strategies across networks.
Smaller, targeted improvements also make a noticeable impact. The Metadata Editor now includes a virtual keyboard, giving catalogers the ability to insert diacritics and special characters without external applications. In parallel, authority record linking has become more precise, with partial linking for name/title headings enabling updates at the subfield level.
Procurement workflows benefit from greater agility as well. The PO Line results list has been enhanced with bulk actions, advanced filters, and the ability to trigger jobs – all from a single view. Furthermore, staff can now change PO Line types even when they are linked to invoices in closed or in-review states, removing a common limitation in acquisitions management.
New analytics capabilities give fulfillment teams richer insights into how patrons engage with library services, enabling data-driven improvements. Alongside this, custom hold request IDs and expanded bulk fine-waiving controls streamline service delivery, helping staff resolve requests and manage accounts with greater speed and precision.
Complementing these changes is a new set of e-resource dashboards. These visual tools surface the most active collections and highlight activation trends, helping librarians make evidence-based decisions about digital content.
“These updates reflect Ex Libris’ continued commitment to working hand-in-hand with our customers to simplify workflows, improve staff experiences, and support library goals through innovation,” said Dana Moshkovits, Senior Director of Product Management at Ex Libris. “We’re proud to deliver another release packed with value and usability improvements.”
