Ex Libris has announced the updated Alma roadmap, outlining a series of strategic developments aimed at advancing the capabilities of its flagship library services platform. This roadmap, developed in collaboration with the Alma community and set to roll out from the second half of 2025 into 2026, focuses on integrating advanced innovations, streamlining workflows, and enhancing collaborative features. 

 

Key Features coming in 2025 and beyond 

The updated roadmap presents a range of exciting new features that will support libraries in providing more efficient, streamlined services. A key area of focus is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and enhancements to Alma’s collaborative networks. Notable upcoming features include: 

  • Linked Open Data Editor (Early Access): Enhancing Alma’s ability to work with linked open data, this feature will offer users greater flexibility and control. 
  • Alma AI-Powered Insights: This solution will provide libraries with valuable usage insights that will assist in decision-making processes  
  • Open Access Analytics: This feature will provide insights to help libraries make informed decisions, optimizing resource allocation and enhancing investment value. 
  • Collaborative Network Enhancements: These enhancements will enable libraries to collaborate more effectively within networks, increasing efficiency and supporting joint initiatives. 
  • Collection Development Dashboards: New services and options will enable central offices to work more efficiently, benefiting all member libraries. 

 

Expanding Library Open Workflows 

With Library Open Workflows now in general availability, the roadmap also includes a set of planned enhancements aimed at expanding its capabilities and addressing additional library workflow scenarios.
