We’re pleased to announce a new collaboration; Rialto and Browns Books are expanding their collaboration to enhance both digital and print offerings on the Rialto Marketplace.
Electronic content from Browns Books will be available in Rialto, further enriching the Rialto Marketplace. VLeBooks will be fully integrated into Rialto’s streamlined model, enabling seamless ordering, invoicing, and fulfilment through the platform.
Additionally, Rialto and Browns Books will offer a new Referral Model for print books. This flexible approach preserves existing Rialto workflows whilst allowing fulfilment by Browns Books, with full process visibility. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation and lays the groundwork for broader adoption of the Referral Model across the Rialto ecosystem.
This exciting expansion of Rialto means librarians will soon have the ability to acquire print books from the Browns Books catalogue.
Browns Books VLeBooks offering will also be available via a Referral Model, this is to ensure that communities can make use of this content via Rialto in parallel to meeting procurement and framework agreements that require the invoicing party to be the content provider.
Referral model
The Partner Referral Model is an enhanced approach in Rialto that streamlines content acquisition for libraries by facilitating direct engagement with provider platforms. This vendor-neutral approach is particularly beneficial for libraries needing formats or fulfilment models not directly supported within Rialto—making it an effective solution for Print and other types of content. Ultimately, this model empowers providers to deliver materials efficiently through their preferred fulfilment processes, ensuring smooth and timely access for libraries.
The Referral Model has been shared with a broad range of community stakeholders, including the Rialto Working Group, the Rialto Focus Group, ELUNA, APAC CAB, and various individual institutions and the feedback has been positive. The complete fulfilment process will not occur within Rialto, yet community members find the model compelling due to its ability to enhance visibility and provide a consolidated view of pricing across platforms—an important feature for streamlined decision-making and part of our informed fulfilment strategy
