The latest Alma Search User Experience is a major step forward in how library staff find, filter, and act on information. In a recent Clarivate webinar, Lili Daie, Product Manager for Alma, guided attendees through practical ways to make the most of the redesigned interface, demonstrating how small changes in search design can have a big impact on efficiency.
“Our goal was to make searching faster, more intuitive, and adaptable to how different staff actually work day to day,” she said.
The session explored customization and personalization options that allow staff to tailor views to their needs and common workflows, as well as how the enhanced advanced-search logic now lets users group conditions for more precise results, how multi-select facets and exclusions simplify complex searches and how to save preferred filters for easy application to future searches. Attendees also saw the advanced navigation and linked open data capabilities of the new search, and how actions such as activating portfolios, adding and withdrawing items, or suppressing from discovery can now be completed directly from search results, keeping users in context and saving valuable time.
Lili Daie also previewed brand new capabilities that came out in the November release, including adjustable sliding panels and new dynamic date-range searches designed to further streamline everyday workflows.
