We’re excited to share that a major update is on the horizon for Rialto, launching this November. This change will transform the way libraries approach acquisitions and collection development, making the entire process more streamlined, data-driven, and collaborative.

Rialto is a unified marketplace embedded in Alma that eliminates the inefficiencies of fragmented library acquisition workflows. With real-time data visibility, seamless integration with Alma, Leganto, and Rapido, and millions of titles from top publishers, Rialto enables librarians to save time, optimize budgets, and collaborate more effectively across teams. Already trusted by 500+ academic libraries worldwide, Rialto is redefining how collection strategies are executed.

This November, Rialto is taking a huge step forward. The upcoming release will introduce the first 2 collection development workflows – Retention – which enables libraries to identify resources that should be kept to ensure the integrity of their collections, and Deselection – which assists librarians in finding which resources they afford to eliminate. These are the first 2 workflows in a series of collection development workflows that will expand Rialto’s capabilities to help library staff make smarter decisions with less manual effort. By surfacing critical data, such as holdings, budgets, and course context, in real time, these workflows will ensure that collection development aligns with institutional priorities while reducing the burden on already-stretched staff.

This launch wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration of our library community. Your feedback, ideas, and partnership continue to shape the future of Rialto. Together, we’re building smarter, more sustainable ways to serve patrons and manage collections strategically.

Stay tuned. November is just the beginning!
